Zohran Mamdani Should Be The Next NYC Mayor

My name is really easy to pronounce. But I’ve still had people ask if that’s my real name because it doesn’t seem “Indian enough.” But when someone with even a slightly less American-sounding name comes up, the first thing the GOP (vs. Kamala Harris) or even the establishment Democrats (vs Zohran Mamdani) do is go out of their way to mispronounce it, sometimes on purpose.

They’re also putting words in his mouth because he supports a free Pal*stine and has been vocally critical of Netanyahu and the Israeli government. He HAS stated that Israel has a right to exist and has demonstrated support for Jewish people and institutions, but that didn’t stop Kirsten Gillibrand (a Democrat) from saying “This is a very serious issue, because people that glorify the slaughter of Jews create fear in our communities,” even though Mamdani has never said that. Andy Ogles, a Representative from TN, went full racist in his comments and posts about the election, calling Mamdani “Little Muhammad.”

Mamdani has solid policies (even Fox News cannot deny that which is why they’re trying to talk about them less) and ideas/plans for how to pay for them. We need new, younger politicians involved in major offices.

I don’t even have a vote or say in this mayoral race, because I don’t live in NYC. But this election and what it could mean? That’s goes well beyond the city, and Mamdani could be the start of real positive change.
